Hey peoples ive just built my new Dream Machine ... Im sick of waiting for Apophysis to render some of my fractals so a new machine was needed to create future images... Its a dual core P4 2.8 ghz ( apparently just came out 2-3 weeks ago in Oz) with 2 gigs of ram unfortunately stiil not enuff to render  stuff at 3200 x2400, the bitch needs 3.7 gigs of ram using quality 1000 oversample 4   ... Apophysis is such a resource hog,  the latest Asus motherboard, 2 hot swap removable drive bays ( no more turning the bastard off to change drives and a kick arse pci-express gforce video card  ..... bring on the new flames :)

Peace

Sounds like a gamer's pc! But it would help you tremendously in render time! Cut the average hours into half! With 2 gig or rams...the more. Mine is 1.5 of ram. It is a great help indeed in render times and enlarging images. Now my next upgrade is to upgrade my 80 Gigabytes of hard drive to 200 Gigabytes. Big huge Fractal images files really really eats up your hard drive space. Yay! Good for you Andrew! :D

BTW. Your approach to fractal flames is the most compressed
and solid form thus it makes achieving the look of 3D.
Most fracal flames I have observed is a bit hollow.
I guess this is your style and approach. Your doing excellent
man. Keep it up! :D

Sounds a cool machine: dual-core is a must concurrent rendering, but I'm waiting till 64-bit is more established. THEN we'll be able to use more than 2 gigs of RAM :) Surprised at oversample 4: presumably you've done tests, but I only ever use 1 and reduce the final image externally if it looks a bit jagged.

Oh I'm soooo jealous! :giggle: Actually I'm happy for you. :) I was hoping to get myself a new computer but then my jeep broke down and bills had to get paid so I had to put that dream aside for a while..... I'm still hoping though.

I can't wait to see more of your amazing artwork!
