'Stranger in a Strange Land' is a 1961 science fiction novel by American author Robert A. Heinlein The story focuses on a human raised on Mars and his adaptation to, and understanding of, humans and their culture, which is portrayed as an amplified version of the consumerist and media-driven 20th-century United States.
I agree with the earlier critique in that it gives a real sense of not being on Earth. However, it seems even more like it could be all part of one organism, perhaps the living planet from the novel and movie Solaris. What appears to be a mushroom-covered surface of a planet could also be the rough taste buds of an alien tongue, waiting for just the right moment to close around an unsuspecting visitor. The "sky" is maybe a bit dark for the inside of a mouth, but remember, this would be an alien mouth...
And of course it works as a "garden-variety" planet...
It is both beautiful and dangerous as a Coral Reef. Some of this landscaping looks like it could swallow you whole. The pods that make up some of the surface helps lend to the quality of you are not on earth. The way you chose a background that is almost a sunset especially shading the back pods are getting darker. I like how the littler pieces grow into an alien mushroom. That little bit of shading with gold really makes the front mushrooms look almost harmless. The same shading on the ground makes it look more lethal to walk on. From the smallest pods to the bigger mushrooms you have layered it so nicely that is gives a strength, depth and height.
And of course it works as a "garden-variety" planet...
