The difference shades of blue give it a very bright, beautiful appearance against a slighter darker, neutral background. The golds and silvers directly compliment the blue. Shading, especially on the "ruffled" edges, creates a very 3D effect. It makes it seems as if it is projecting out of the picture, far above the background. With the background, it's detailed and has a lot of depth, but does take some attention away from the center of the picture. However, an amazing amount of attention seems to be spent on the small pieces of detail, all the tiny little designs, and the way the gold seems to shine, which makes everything catch the viewers attention. Unfortunately, this makes everything, while beautiful, a bit overwhelming. All in all, this is still an amazing piece of artwork.
